At Multivision Screens, we always like to know what our screens are used for. Providing a technical solution is great, but being part of a meaningful project is even better. In March 2025, we had the pleasure of designing and delivering a screen frame for an immersive installation in the Tour de la Chaîne in La Rochelle. This work by the artist Tania Mouraud, part of the ‘Biens venus!’ programme, questions our relationship with nature, with living beings and with the world.

An unprecedented dialogue between contemporary art and heritage

As part of the nationwide ‘Biens venus!’ event, the Centre des monuments nationaux (CMN) and the Centre national des arts plastiques (CNAP) have invited artist Tania Mouraud to take over one of the most emblematic sites in France's maritime heritage : the Tour de la Chaîne in La Rochelle. From 17 April to 16 November 2025, visitors can discover her immersive video and sound installation Ad Infinitum, a key work in the Cnap collection.

A technical solution to enhance the artistic experience

To ensure that this immersive work of art took full effect in this unique heritage space, the organisers called on Multivision Screens to design a custom-made projection screen, adapted to the constraints of the venue while respecting the integrity of the monument.

We supplied a 6.76 m wide by 3.80 m high fixed-frame cinema screen. Designed for high-quality front projection, the screen is fitted with a non-perforated Super Matt White fabric that guarantees excellent image reproduction while avoiding unwanted reflections. The screen fabric is made from M1-rated PVC, which is fully compliant with current safety standards for public spaces.

The black anodised aluminium frame, with its right-angled corners, incorporates our ‘postcard’ system that makes the frame completely invisible once the screen is in place, an ideal choice for discreet integration into a heritage area. The screen is held in place by vertical profile supports, ensuring a stable and neat installation.

An immersive, poetic and engaging work

Ad Infinitum is an 8-minute black-and-white video loop in which we observe the sweeping, coordinated movements of grey whales accompanying their calves in the lagoons of Baja, Mexico, as they migrate towards Alaska. This hypnotic ballet, captured by the artist's camera, evokes both the beauty of nature and the fragility of its balance. The black and white, tight framing and sound effects plunge visitors into a world that is both contemplative and disturbing.

This artistic project takes on its full meaning in a place steeped in history: the Tour de la Chaîne, once the guardian of the entrance to the Old Port, a monument facing the Atlantic. The work invites us to think about our relationship with the oceans and ecosystems, long thought to be inexhaustible but now under threat.

Our technical expertise at the service of culture.

We design reliable, aesthetic and high-performance solutions that can be integrated into demanding museum, heritage or artistic contexts. We are delighted to have contributed in our own way to this dialogue between art, history and innovation, and to have enabled the work of Tania Mouraud to resonate fully in a place so charged with meaning.
